Last year, Instagram finally rolled out its new update that includes support for live videos and some key features that allow Facebook-owned social network to stand in line with competing platforms. Live video update is embedded as part of Instagram’s Stories feature and allows users to connect to their friends and others in real-time. Basically, you will get a push notification if someone you follow starts a live video.
However, imagine if you follow hundreds of people on Instagram. This could be a nightmare if you get tons of notifications at the same time. Luckily, the app now allows you to disable notifications for live videos without even disabling other notifications.
In this guide, we will run you through the steps to disable notifications for Instagram live videos. Before we begin, note that once you disable notifications for live videos, you still get notifications from your followers like comments, likes and tags.
Steps to disable notifications for Instagram live videos on your iPhone
Step one: First off, you are supposed to launch the Instagram app from your home screen. Once you are done, you need to tap the Me tab and then tap the small Settings icon located at the top right corner of the screen
Step two: Next up, all you need to do is to scroll down and tap on Push Notification Settings
Step three: Once you are done, scroll down a little bit until you reach Live Videos and tap Off to disable notifications for Instagram live videos.
Once you have disabled notifications for live videos, you have to open the Instagram app and check if someone you follow starts a live video.
Besides, you can customize how you want to get Instagram notifications. To do this, head to the Settings app, tap Notifications and tap on Instagram. Here, you will choose to enable Show in Notification Center or Sounds.
