Step 1: Head over to Settings > iTunes & Appstore > Select Sign Out.
Step 2: Now Hard Reset your iDevice. By Press and Hold Home Button and Power Button as shown below in the image.

Now head back to the App Store or the iTunes Store and search for something and it will work.
Note: I’m still not sure that you need to follow all these steps in the same order so you can mix it up by disabling the Auto Updates before/after of the Force Restart of your iPhone or iPad.
