Nokia was once one of the biggest names in the mobile phone market. The Finnish firm was selling hundreds of millions of phone units back in the old days. However, we no longer live in those days. Nokia is now a subsidiary of the Finnish company HMD Global.
For some background, Microsoft sold the Nokia branding to HMD Global following the acquisition back in 2014. Last year, the Finnish company unveiled a number of new Nokia phones to mark Nokia’s strong return to the market.
At 2017 Mobile World Congress, HMD Global announced the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. Both devices received mostly positive reviews worldwide, with praise directed at their innovative features and premium design.
According to the latest reports, HMD Global is selling millions of Nokia phone units every quarter, which gives the company a driving reason to work on new phones. The Finnish company recently announced the Nokia X6 following months of rumors and reports. The X6 is a premium phone that packs high-end design and specs. However, the device is only available in China. We are expecting to see a rollout of the device this year.
HMD Global today confirmed that the device will arrive in international markets on July 19 following the launch event. According to HMD Global, the device will hit Hong Kong next month, while an international release is set for 2019.
Nokia X6 quickly took the center stage when it was officially announced. The device features a 5.8-inch display with a top notch, just like the iPhone X. Under the hood, the X6 is powered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset, coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Internal storage options include 32GB and 64GB of storage.
The X6 runs Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo at launch as a part of Android One program. Android One is not something new out there as it now powers a number of devices. Tech experts say that Nokia’s move to launch the X6 globally aims to boost its smartphone sales on the market. Sources say that Nokia has been working on new phones that might launch to the public in 2019.
