Siri was first introduced as a feature of the iPhone 4s in 2011. Apple’s virtual assistant is getting smarter and smarter. However, there comes a time when you want to silence Siri thanks to her unnecessary and repetitive prompts. In reality, Siri may be accidentally activated on your phone in a quiet room if you have ever set a reminder at work or even a timer.
Luckily, Apple added a new feature in iOS 9 that allows you to mute Siri on your iPhone. Basically, the new feature allows you to link Siri’s voice feedback with your iPhone’s ring status. Therefore, if you have your iPhone on silent mode, Siri will be quiet in silent mode as well.
How to silence Siri on your iPhone
Step 1: Go to Settings, and then tap General.
Step 2: Select Siri in the menu.
Step 3: Tap Voice Feedback on the Siri screen to proceed. You may have noticed that Siri’s voice feedback is enabled at all time by default.
Step 4: You will see the second menu option labeled Tap Control with Ring Switch. Tap on it in order to link Siri’s voice feedback with your phone’s ring status. That’s all you have to do. Remember Siri will still speak until you set the ring switch to silent mode.
