Last week, the jailbreak for Apple TV 4 was officially released following its long-time beta stage. The jailbreak has been designed for Apple TV 4 running iOS 10.0-10.1, but an update is believed to be in works to bring full support for tvOS 9.1. The beta was previously in beta to fix all the issues and make it more stable.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to jailbreak Apple TV 4 running tvOS 10.0-10.1 using liberTV. Before we begin, make sure that you are now running tvOS 10.0 – 10.1 and have a Mac or a Windows PC by your side.
Steps to jailbreak Apple TV 4 running tvOS 10.0-10.1 with liberTV
Step one: First and foremost, open your preferred web browser on your computer and head over to this link here to download Cydia Impactor. Once you are done, click on this link to download liberTV jailbreak
Step two: Next up, you are supposed to connect your Apple TV to your computer using a USB cable. Once you are done, you simply need to open Cydia Impactor and drop the liberTV IPA file you downloaded earlier onto Cydia Impactor
Step three: You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. All you need to do is fill in the blank all your credentials, which will be sent to Apple to generate signing certificate. Remember that you can create a secondary Apple ID if you don’t want to provide your primary account
Step four: Once you are done, Cydia Impactor will begin installing the jailbreak app onto your Apple TV
Step five: When the installation is finished, you simply need to disconnect your Apple TV from your computer and connect your device to your TV to proceed
Step six: You will notice that there is a liberTV jailbreak app on your home screen and you just need to open the app
Step seven: Once you are done, you are supposed to select the jailbreaking option and hit the Do It button at the bottom
Step eight: The jailbreak should begin now. Once done, you will get a message saying “Success” at the top of the screen
That’s it! Note that liberTV jailbreak don’t support any latest firmware version, which is now tvOS 10.1.1, so make sure that you are running tvOS 10.0-10.1 before beginning.
