Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world. Apple is selling multiple products out there like MacBook, iPhones, iPads, and iMac. However, the Cupertino firm is reporting slow sales performance in Greater China where it fails to compete with local smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Oppo. However, Apple is showing that it is more than just iPhones, iPads, or Macs as it has been expanding its business for years. Sources say that the Cupertino firm has been working on a self-driving project called Titan. In reality, rumors regarding Apple’s self-driving cars have been out there in recent years, but it remains unclear what Apple is planning.
It seems that the project did not go well according to plan. Apple confirms that it is laying off 190 employees that worked on the project. The reasons for the layoffs remain unknown. Sources say that some employees will be moved to projects in other parts of the company. Sources also claim that Apple is hiring new engineers to work on its project, but there is no word from Apple about when the project resumes.
Some reports say that Apple is working on an electric van and will announce it in 2023. In reality, electric cars are not new out there as Google has been working on them for years. Tech watchers say that Apple-branded cars will work perfectly with Apple devices and include support for Siri at launch. Reports claim that Apple will be testing its own cars next year ahead of the public release. Besides, the Cupertino firm is encouraging its employees to take public transport instead of driving to work.
Apple is expecting to announce new iPhones and MacBook models this year. Sources say that the 2019 iPhone will come with a slight design change as Apple focuses on a hardware upgrade. However, a premium model will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner at launch. In reality, the recently-released Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus have an under-display fingerprint scanner, so Apple does not want to get left behind. Apple will hold a new event in March where it will announce new iPads and a cheaper HomePod. Last year, Apple unveiled a new 9.7 inch iPad at its education event in March.
